Seawater desalination ro systems water treatment equipment pressurizes seawater to 6-8MPa through high-pressure pumps, forcing water molecules to pass through reverse osmosis membranes (pore size of only 0.0001 microns), while impurities such as salts, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses and so on are retained. In a typical case, the equipment can reduce the salt content of seawater from 35000mg/L to less than 500mg/L, with a desalination rate of more than 98%, and the quality of produced water is in line with WHO drinking water standards.
Multi-stage pretreatment to ensure system stability
For seawater with high turbidity and corrosive characteristics, the equipment is equipped with multi-media filter (to remove suspended solids), security filter (to intercept particles of more than 5μm) and dosing system (to add scale inhibitor and reducing agent) to ensure that the reverse osmosis membrane is free from pollution and scaling, and extend its service life to 3-5 years.

Pressure-driven and semi-permeable membrane characteristics
Reverse osmosis membrane is made of aromatic polyamide composite material with high selectivity (water molecule passage rate > 99%) and mechanical strength. Under high pressure, the solvent (water) in seawater permeates to the low concentration side, while the solute (salt) is retained, forming a separation of fresh water from concentrated water (salt content of about 60,000 mg/L).
Energy Recovery and Energy Efficiency Optimization
Modern equipment with integrated energy recovery devices (e.g., Pelton wheels or pressure exchangers) can recover and reuse the concentrated water pressure energy, reducing the system energy consumption to 3-4kWh/m³ of fresh water, which is more than 60% energy efficient compared to traditional thermal desalination.
