How Ion Exchange Water Purification Works
Ion exchange technology uses specially formulated resins to remove dissolved ions from water through reversible chemical reactions.
The Science Behind It:
• Cation Exchange: Removes positive ions (Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Na⁺)
• Anion Exchange: Removes negative ions (Cl⁻, SO₄²⁻, HCO₃⁻)
• Mixed Bed: Combines both resins for highest purity
Simple Example:
HR + Na⁺ → NaR + H⁺
This shows sodium ions swapping places with hydrogen ions on the resin.
Key System Configuration Options

Complete Operation & Maintenance Guide
Daily Cleaning Procedures:
For Cation Units:
• Backwash: 15 minutes
• Rinse: 20 minutes forward flow
For Anion Units:
• Backwash: 15 minutes
• Rinse: 20 minutes forward flow
Regeneration Process:
Cation Unit Acid Regeneration:
1. Normal backwash and rinse cycle
2. Acid injection: ~30 minutes
3. Rinse to neutral pH
Anion Unit Caustic Regeneration:
1. Normal backwash and rinse cycle
2. Caustic injection: ~45 minutes
3. Rinse to neutral pH
